Christmas Changes

This Christmas season just isn't the same as the cold winter seasons I remember from growing up. There were always piles of snow, knee deep, by the middle of December, and kids would run around screaming all day as they played outside. Unfortunately, kids this year are missing out on the winter fun. They will be lucky to get snow by Christmas to play in. Something just isn't right!
The other main change I noticed about recent Christmas seasons was the lack of Christmas Carolers. With all of the aspiring singers on shows like American Idol and Americas Got Talent, I would expect that groups or people might want to go around and sing, for fun. This is not the case at all, and I have not seen a single group of carolers.
Maybe people are just scared to walk around and sing, or maybe people are becoming Scrooges and forgetting the true Spirit of Christmas. Whatever the case is, I miss carolers and I miss the guarantees of a snowy Christmas.

Big Trucks Cause Big Problems

With Christmas coming up in less than 7 days, many people will be out this week shopping for last minute gifts for their loved ones, or themselves. The presents being exchanged will vary in price range, depending on how much love people have for one another. If you are considering purchasing a vehicle this holiday season, as the ultimate proof of your love for somebody, then don't be foolish and let a salesman trick you into buying a over sized truck.

The cost of vehicles these days are way too expensive to be wasting money on purchasing a vehicle with useless features, like most over sized trucks. Adequate size to fulfill your needs, low initial cost, low maintenance fees, and gas efficiency are some important factors to consider when searching for that perfect match. Another important factor, which is sometimes overseen, is how much of an impact your vehicle may have on other people and the environment.

Sure, the larger SUV's and pickup trucks will be able to plow through piles of snow this winter, but that is not a very important consideration. A more important consideration may be their advantage plowing through unstable terrain like a farm field or rough city road. An even greater thing to consider, though, should be the damage they can cause to smaller vehicles they may plow into on the road. Unless you need a giant SUV or pickup to fulfill a usage requirement, I recommend smaller trucks because they are more convenient and safe for the public.

Smaller vehicles are able to maneuver through streets better, causing less traffic congestion. They usually run more efficiently then larger trucks too, causing less pollution or "air congestion". The type of vehicles I dislike most may be ones I felt congested in. If you sit in a vehicle and don't feel congested then your good to go.

Smaller vehicles have less negative impacts on others, and on the environment, without significant reductions in comfort or usage requirements. With that in mind, I think its time we all should just step it down a notch, and drive reasonably sized vehicles to fulfill our needs. We must continue to phase out useless elements of transportation and continue to develop the most efficient, useful vehicles.

If we continue to buy these over sized models for our needs, then how will new vehicle technologies which meet our needs ever develop?

Undefeated

How about them Packers? Yet again they have prevailed to defeat a tough team on the road. If Eli Manning and the New York Giant couldn't stop Green Bay this year, then who can? It looks to me like the Packers are going undefeated this season! Go Pack Go!

Green Bay was already 11-0 going into today's game, and if I had to pick one team capable of defeating the Packers before the regular season ended my money would have been on the New York Giants. It was the Giants who knocked Green Bay out of going to the Superbowl only four seasons ago, and the Giants went on to defeat the 16-0 Patriots and win that Superbowl. If a Superbowl caliber team can't stop Green Bay this season then who can?

The schedule ahead for Green Bay looks moderately easy. Lets face it, the Raiders and the Chiefs are not tough teams at all, and Green Bay has already defeated the fragile Bears and the lousy Lions. Come January 1, I believe Green Bay will become the 5th team in NFL history to go undefeated during the regular season.

But then comes the playoffs and the undefeated curse...

Only 1 team has ever had a perfect season, the 1972 Miami dolphins. Other than that, the only other team to come close was the 16-0 Patriots who lost to New York. Somehow, the four undefeated teams have a history of losing in the playoffs.

It may just be my optimism, but I think Green Bay will break the curse and become the second NFL team in history to play a perfect season. And after they do win Superbowl XLVI this year I will only have one thing to say to all the haters... "And there is your dagger" - Wayne Larrivee
